How important is ‘church’ to you? The National Church Life Survey tells us Lutherans that gathering for worship is the most important thing for us, and we value holy communion, preaching and worship style.
Why do we gather as church?
Why do we celebrate the Word and Holy Communion?
What is the purpose of the local church?
What are we here for ?
These are important questions for us to ask as we carry out the work of being Jesus in the world. Are there some things that we need to repent of or return to? Sometimes the local church can become self-serving. Sometimes we are riddled with doubts and fears. What might it look like if we were to come back to Jesus and find our strength in him – like never before? What might happen if we upped our devotional life: refreshed our practices of reading God’s Word and prayer?
These are all questions that remind us of why we are here and motivate us to be the Church in the world. Given the needs of the world right now: is now a great time to renew who we are, and what we are here for?
We will explore these questions and more in our worship this Sunday @ Faith Warradale.
