Things are going from bad to worse in Judah. Jeremiah himself is in prison. On the streets it is chaos. Judah is being invaded by a foreign force – the Chaldeans. On account of the sin and faithlessness of God’s people, God has turned his face away from His people and they are now living in fear.
Into this broken place God sends a promise of a new King from the family of David.  With this king will come safety! Peace will come back to the land under the just reign of the promised king.  This is the safety we know under the reign of King Jesus, our Saviour, whose arrival is anticipated through these next 4 weeks of Advent promises.
