I know and understand from my own experience that most of us don’t really fully appreciate the blessings of the people who care for us, who lead us, even our community leaders. We might even ask ‘Do we need a Shepherd?’ ‘Do we need someone to look out for us and our wellbeing?’
Our trust in leaders might even be tested – especially when we consider the way our nation’s leaders sometimes behave. It’s good for us to remember that we have leaders placed over us by God. They give us a degree of safety, peace from good order, and the like. Not all leaders are godly. We can observe other places where there is political instability and fear.
But Jesus is the promised shepherd. The whole earth will know his true greatness—even us here at Warradale and Glenelg, thousands of years after this promise. Jesus is the shepherd in whom is God’s presence to you, who is righteous, giving safety, and peace in all the struggles and joys of life.
