I recently got boxed up around the Aberfoyle Park Lutheran church. I set my navigator for the street, and it turns out the street has an east and west. I ended up on the wrong side of the park. I could see where I wanted to go but could not get there. I had to reset and take the long way round and back to where I wanted to go.
Sometimes are lives are like that. We know where we want to go. We may even assume we are going there but can find ourselves boxed in – maybe even lost. We,
most of us I suspect, want to end up in heaven. Perhaps there is a common myth that that’s where we all end up anyway, but we can easily take the wrong turn and lose ourselves.
How do you get to God’s holy place? Which way do we go? We go through the door, and the door is Jesus. There’s no other way in all creation to enter into the presence of God. And the door is open to every single person who believes in Jesus. Is that you? I hope so.
This weekends word is a word of assurance as we close in on the end of the church year and think about the end of the journey. God bless you with peace and courage as you set your sights on Jesus, the door, or the curtain, into the holy presence of God. No matter how lost you are, set your sights on Jesus! He will guide you safely through every dead end, every trial, every false lead until finally you enter into the Holy presence of God.
