Sometimes in the thick of life we can lose sight of the goal posts // the end game // the big picture.
In this Word from the Apostle Paul, we are urged to set our sights on heaven. That’s the final great prize. Having that in mind is worth holding on to.
He also encourages us to not hold on to our worldly treasures. Don’t let them become more important than the final prize.
Paul looks back at his life and considers things that were once of paramount importance to him to be of little value in comparison the knowing Jesus.
Could it be that sometimes the things we hold in high regard in this life might actually hold us back from full life with Jesus? Could it be time for a season of renewing our priorities – focused on Jesus?
This of course doesn’t mean we necessarily abandon our earthly treasure. They are gifts of God. What it does mean is we put Jesus and his kingdom first in our daily lives.
