There are many things in life that give us boldness and courage. Knowledge, experience, resources, support and encouragement. These are all great gifts and worth sharing. And they are all things that Jesus’ disciples received from the Lord. But one great and significant event in their lives gave then a courage and boldness greater than all the rest: They received a share of God’s glory when they witnessed the transfiguration of Jesus. Their lives were changed. All their previous knowledge and experiences were superpowered. From that time on they had a new boldness and courage to be faithful disciples, witnessing, sharing and shining God’s mercy and grace wherever they went.
It might not seem as amazing, but our Baptism gives us the same thing. We are immersed into Jesus. We are forgiven – washed clean. His glory shines into our lives. And so we can go and shine and share with that same fearless boldness and courage.
