When we were baptised the congregation confessed with us:
I believe in the God the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth! This is a statement of faith! We, each one of us, together say “I believe”! This statement of faith is foundational to how we live. It sets the scene. It is the context for living. It is the basis of real life. To hold to this belief is to be grounded is God’s reality. We live out our lives in a way that is fully real.
There’s nothing artificial about God’s creation. It’s real, not plastic!
And that’s how the Lord wants us to live our lives – to live real lives, not plastic lives. To be people of truth and grace and integrity whose lives are built on a firm foundation that is forever real. Sadly, in community and even in church, the veneers of falsehood, or unreality came become very pervasive and people are sometimes disconnected from reality – or we might say in this age of relativity: People make their own reality.
In God’s Word today is this powerful reminder of the reality of God’s creation and purposes for the world and everyone who live in it. Let’s be refreshed in His reality, renewed in our daily lives and relationships, and restored in depth of faith and trust in the Lord.
