When the Lord says I am making all things new, he knows what he is saying. His grammar is present and active. He means what He says. ‘I am in the process of renewal – making everything new’
Now to me and you this has got to be great news. Physically, we live in bodies that are dying, but spiritually we are being renewed all the time. That’s what the Lord is saying in 2 Corinthians 4:16 “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.” 2 Corinthians 4:16
Sometimes life is really hard going, for all sorts of reasons. That might be true physically for us when we’re feeling worn out and rundown, ageing, even in our disabilities. It may also be true for us mentally and emotionally when we’re struggling in relationships, struggling to love, struggling to accept who we are. It may also be true spiritually, we take our eyes off the Lord and lose our way, no longer absolutely sure and certain where to place our hope; in whom our lives are found.
But in all these situations the Lord says I am making everything new! This dear friends, is real life. This is reality for those who are baptised into Jesus – for all God’s Saints. So hold on to this life, no matter the situation you find yourself in. God is at work in you and for you; renewing, refreshing and restoring you into his Kingdom.
