There’s a song we have sung at Faith titles “Who Am I”. It asks essentially: who am I that the Lord in all his power would know my name, listen to me, and consider my life? Today’s word speaks of God’s power over the world and over each of us that is vested in Jesus. The wondrous gift of this is that you and I are ‘in’ Jesus. We are baptised into him – into his death and resurrection. Because he lives, we live – even into eternity. We might not realise the implication, because they are almost out of our ways of thinking and acting, but we share in His power! What does that mean for us in our daily lives? I am wondering if we fully understood the freedom this gives us, how might we be a far more radical, counter cultural presence of Faith, Love and Hope in the world?
Here’s the Apostle Paul’s prayer from verse 18. It’s also my prayer for all of us. My prayer is that light will flood your hearts and you will understand the hope given to you when God chose you. Then you will discover the glorious blessings that will be yours together with all God’s people.
