This Sunday we are combining 3 distinct elements of our lives as God’s people into one focus, under the banner of Deeper witness.
• The way we care for others is a deep witness to our faith.
• The way we give with thanksgiving to the needs of others is a deeper witness to our faith.
• The way we share our faith with other people in any shape or form is a deeper witness to our faith.
This Sunday in our prayer time we will acknowledge and give thanks to God for those carers who visit with us on a weekly basis, and perhaps some others as well.
We will also bring extra gifts of Thanksgiving, acknowledging the Lord of the harvest with gifts to distribute to people who are in need. Finally we will be encouraged by God’s word to bring a deeper witness to our faith into any element of community in which we live and serve and play. We will be reminded by God’s word that our serving and caring is not done in our strength but in his strength: prompted, inspired and equipped by his Holy Spirit.
Let’s look forward to welcoming carers this Sunday, praying for them, and blessing them as we acknowledge their place in the Kingdom of God. Let’s bring, with joy, thanksgiving gifts as we acknowledge the Lord of the harvest and his generosity toward us.
