Last Sunday Vicar Jeremy taught us from 3 Scriptures: Nehemiah the prophet, St Paul’s 1st letter to the Corinthians, and the Gospel of Luke, chapter 4. He taught that Jesus is revealed, or manifested, in and through the Church in worship.
1 Corinthians 13 spoke of all those who believe in the Lord as being a living part of the church. This is true whatever our situation, from isolation to full on participation. Jesus is revealed through his people, especially in worship: at home, at church, or wherever we are. At the end of the Corinthians reading the Word spoke of a better way – in fact the best way – of being God’s people. As we continue to read in 1 Corinthians we discover just what the better way is: It’s the way
of love.
So today, we will focus on what that means for us as church. What is ‘the better way’? How is Jesus is revealed through God’s love. How do we reveal Jesus in the ways that we love God and love each other?
In preparing for this Word, you might consider some ‘what ifs’. What if I were to count the ways that I am loved by God? What if I were to take stock of the ways that I love people, asking, ‘how does this reveal Jesus’? What if I were better at loving people like Jesus loves me? I were to reconsider how I do that, what difference would it make?
God bless your reflections on the Word for this week.
