When we light a candle in daylight we hardly notice it’s light. But when we light a candle in the dark, it’s light shines out bright. There are other metaphors: those who suffer pain better appreciate relief from pain. Those who are hungry better appreciate food. Those who are thirsty really appreciate water. And so it goes.
It’s when we recognise our lostness and our sin, that we better appreciate being found and forgiven by Jesus.
Yes, Jesus is best revealed in hard times.
