When the Lord sends messengers, He reveals himself through what they say, how they say it, and even through how they live. Sometimes when God calls a messenger the response is not always immediately joy and celebration – sometimes it takes time to sink in. But mostly when God calls, his people respond willingly. That’s how it was with Isaiah: “I’ll go,” Isaiah answered. “Send me!” Similarly with those first disciples: The men pulled their boats up on the shore. Then they left everything and went with Jesus.
It wasn’t quite that easy with Paul, his call took some time, but like Isaiah, Jesus’ disciples, and other prophets; when he followed, the message he gave was life giving.
God reveals himself through His messengers: His Word, his purposes, his character.
Who have been God’s messengers to you? What was their message? Does God use you and me as his messengers? Will you ‘Go for God’?
If so, what is the message we have to bring that reveals Jesus in and through us?
