Sometimes sharing the good news doesn’t go down well. People can become defensive, angry, and abusive. Paul said this about some of his experiences in Philippi: “As you remember, we had been mistreated and insulted at Philippi”.
While you or I might never have been physically abused because of our willingness and desire to share the gospel, we can be sure some people have had hard thoughts about us tucked away behind their bland smiles and neutral language.
Never-the-less, we will continue to share and live the Good News. Our faith will continue to inform the ways we serve with love and compassion.
So why would we do that – especially in this post Christian society of ours. Because God’s love compels us. His Spirit give us courage and boldness. We know that sharing the Good News with others pleases the Lord who wants all people to be saved. We do this out of genuine care for that person. We do it because we desire to love the other person as much as we are loved.
