Last Sunday we focussed on Faith; that gift from God that makes us acceptable to him. He invites us to be faithful in all our lives.
“God treats everyone alike. He accepts people only because they have faith in Jesus Christ.” Romans 3:22
This Sunday we will focus on God’s faithfulness and the blessings that come to us by the faithfulness of God. There’s a song well known across the generations: Great is Thy Faithfulness. This song speaks of the faithfulness of God. God the creator is constantly at work renewing creation. The sacrifice of God, in His Son Jesus redeemed the sins of people, and that redeeming gift faithfully remains. He is faithful to everyone who looks to him and will save them!
In today’s reading from 1 Kings comes this account of God’s faithfulness toward a widow who had very little. God’s faithfulness is extraordinary.
The Lord’s faithfulness is recognized by the Psalm writer where he says: “The Lord God of Jacob blesses everyone who trusts him and depends on him.” Psalm 127:5
