In the new testament readings, Jesus explores with the others around him that all people should be treated fairly regardless of their circumstances. In the James reading, Jesus talks about how a rich person dressed in fancy clothes and a poor person dressed in worn-out clothes should be both offered the same place to fit in. Similarly, in the Mark reading, Jesus demonstrates this love and acceptance of all by healing a deaf man.
This message explains that with our gifts we have been given, we should welcome and support all people through any struggles. We need to be accepting of all people and remember that God has created them all perfectly. Jesus later explains that if we believe in him we should show our faith by living like Christ. “My friends, what good is it to say you have faith, when you don’t do anything to show that you really do have faith? Can that kind of faith save you?” (James 2:14).
As Christians we are called to bear fruit, a great and simple way to do this is to build up others by treating them as the wonderful creations of God they are. We can show our faith by supporting and giving generously to those who are in need.
This week may God be with us as we go out and show our Faith to others by welcoming and giving generously of ourselves to our community. God bless you with courage as you demonstrate the wonderful gifts you have been given with others.
