You are not alone. God’s promises remain: He will never leave or forsake you! Even walking the valley of darkness he will be with you to bring you safely through. This Sunday we continue to explore faith: this time considering the relationship between faith and fear. What does faith have to say to fear ?
We meet Jesus sleeping in a boat, out at sea in a storm. His disciples – some of them seasoned fishermen – were afraid. In fear they wake Jesus and this is what he says to them:
“Why were you afraid? Don’t you have any faith ?” Mark 4:40
There are many times when our lives are tossed about by all sorts of rough seas – in and out of the troughs and waves of hurt, fear, grief, failure, pain, fear of death and so on. But we have a captain who is able to navigate the fiercest storms and bring us safely through. His name is Jesus. As he promised, he came to save us. Time after time he reaches out to us, lifting us up and keeping us safe until finally he will bring us safely home.
In your fear, have faith in the Lord. He has saved you! He will rescue you and keep you safe.
“When the time came, I listened to you,
and when you needed help, I came to save you.”
That time has come. This is the day for you to be saved.
2 Corinthians 6:2b
